Friday, Dec. 2, I will be singing with David Tang and the Carolina Voices chorus VOX at St. John’s Baptist Church here in Charlotte, NC. I will be the soloist on the piece “Children, Go Where I Send Thee” as arranged by Andre Thomas.
Why do I bring this up? Because if you would like a chance to hear me in the far flung reaches, all you have to do is click over to WDAV 89.9 Classical Public Radio’s website from 12 noon to 1 PM Eastern Standard Time. VOX will be singing some outstanding music, including:
- O Come All Ye Faithful
- Angels We Have Heard on High
- Alleluia, Dies Antificatus
- The Rune of Hospitality
- Ave Maria
- What Child is This?
There will also be solo ragtime piano pieces, including “Silent Night in New Orleans,” “It Came upon a Midnight Boogie,” and “Go Tell It On the Mountain,” as well as “Poeme Mystique” for solo organ. In my opinion, there’s not a better way to spend an hour to kick off the holiday season.
So mark your calendars! Friday, December 2, 12 noon to 1 PM Eastern Standard time, right here.
UPDATE: Here is the program for the Lessons and Carols Service
UPDATE 12/7/11: WDAV has posted the broadcast in its entirety here. A fantastic performance made even better by having my friend Willie Stradford as a reader, and the stunning vocals of Abigail Haynes Lennox performing with Henry Lebedinsky on cittern; Aaron Westman on baroque violin and Gail Ann Schroeder on viola da gamba. Go listen!
WAY WAY LATE UPDATE: Here’s my performance.
