When I was in college as a voice major, learning how to manage the impact of colds and illness on your voice was a big part of learning to sing again. Moderating coughing, sneezing, and even laughing are important to keeping your voice healthy and functioning in the face of illness. As a side note to a portion of her article, I have been able to see my own vocal folds thanks to being ‘scoped before an opera performance years ago, and yes…it’s not for the squeamish.
